Has your school tested their radiation levels? In recent years, concerns about the potential health risks associated with exposure to electromagnetic radiation have been on the rise. The Coalition for Safe Technology, Greater Hartford chapter, is committed to raising awareness about the presence of high levels of radiation in schools and advocating for measures to mitigate these risks. Our children spend a significant portion of their formative years in educational institutions, making it imperative to ensure that their learning environments are safe and free from potential health hazards.
Modern schools are increasingly reliant on technology, with Wi-Fi networks, smart boards, and other electronic devices becoming integral parts of the educational landscape. While these technologies bring numerous benefits, they also emit electromagnetic fields (EMFs) that have raised concerns among health experts. Numerous scientific studies have explored the potential health effects of prolonged exposure to EMFs, with some suggesting links to various health issues, including headaches, fatigue, and potential long-term consequences. Children, with their developing bodies and brains, may be more vulnerable to the effects of radiation, making it crucial to address these concerns in the school setting. Contributing AuthorOpinion: By Thomas Louis Kenney, Founder of Dweller News In an era where media landscapes are dominated by corporate giants and the trust in government is dwindling, the need for a citizen-driven media initiative has never been greater. As the founder of Dweller News, I am dedicated to constructing a citizen media initiative that focuses on capital cities throughout the United States and beyond. Our goal is simple: to empower citizens to have their voices heard through citizen journalism and provide them with the tools they need to engage in government problem solving and information sharing.
For nearly eight years, Dweller News, formerly known as Hartford Dwellers, has recognized the significance of giving citizens a platform to voice their opinions in our own capital city of Hartford, Connecticut. Our open forum Facebook group page, Hartford Dwellers, has been a vibrant space for conversations, and it will continue to exist to keep these discussions going. Now, we are expanding our reach to other capital cities, offering Forums on our website and Facebook open forum group pages to individuals who care about their cities and want to engage in citizen journalism. In each capital city, we will collaborate with activists, business leaders, high schools, and universities to create more opportunities for participation in this initiative. Why focus on capital cities? Capital cities play a crucial role in shaping public opinion and policy. By providing a platform for diverse voices to be heard and highlighting underreported issues often ignored by mainstream news media, citizen journalism can bridge the gap between citizens and policymakers. In doing so, we hope to encourage critical thinking and open dialogue among citizens, fostering a more engaged and informed society. According to a recent study by the Pew Research Center, a mere 20% of Americans trust their government to do what is right always or most of the time. This lack of trust can lead to disengagement and apathy among citizens, hindering the progress of democracy. At Dweller News, we believe that by equipping citizens with the tools they need to engage in government problem solving, we can increase trust in government and promote a more participatory democracy. |
